The Piraeus Tower, standing as an iconic fixture in the port of Piraeus, is undergoing a significant transformation. Known as the “sleeping giant,” this 84-meter tall structure is the second tallest building in Greece and has been a notable part of the Piraeus skyline since its construction was halted in the 1970s. Originally designed by I. Vikelas, G. Molfesis, and A. Loizou, the building is now set to fulfill its potential as a modern commercial and office hub.

Under the development guidance of Dimand SA and financial backing from Prodea Investments, the renovation focuses on converting this once incomplete edifice into a vibrant center for business and retail. The new design, spearheaded by PILA Studio, preserves the building’s historical essence while incorporating contemporary architectural elements that will revitalize its presence in the harbor.

F-nous members have been recently involved in the process of implementation of Piraeus tower. That specific project involved the design, production, and installation of a unitized system (female-female). Due to the complexity of the architectural concept, having vertical fins that were horizontally displaced from one floor to another, a bespoke aluminum structure was introduced by members of  F-Nous and ETEM.  The innovative approach of F-Nous members was the key factor for this delivery. The implemented structure in combination with the materials that were used, successfully addressed the challenges of thermal expansions, seismic displacements, air and waterproofing. The new facade is designed to meet modern standards of energy efficiency and sustainability, aiming for LEED certification.

The revitalization of Piraeus Tower includes the introduction of high-end office spaces, luxury retail outlets, and dining areas, making it a cornerstone of urban development in Piraeus. The project also features open public spaces and terraces that offer panoramic views of the harbor, fostering a connection between the tower and its waterfront setting.
